Controlling and Monitoring

Output Controlling, Input Monitoring and Automation

One key element in our solutions that is particularly appreciated by our customers are the software interfaces and hardware I/Os (Input/Output) for integrating and controlling external third-party systems, such as lighting, alarms and other building equipment or industrial installations.

Intercom Stations and Modules with built-in I/Os

Commend Intercom Stations and Modules are equipped with I/Os for controlling outputs and for monitoring inputs. Pure I/O modules (e.g. ET 8E8A) can be used, if there is no need for audio communication.

Intercom Servers with I/Os

Commend Servers provide I/O support with a standard set of logic control operations such as opening a gate or flashing a signal light if a specific condition is met. GE 800 and GE 300 Intercom Servers can be equipped with I/O-cards for controlling outputs and for monitoring inputs. To add I/O functionality to pure IP-Intercom Servers like VirtuoSIS and IS 300 you can use I/O option boards together with IP-Converters ET 901.

Logic I/O control for intercom systems

As projects are getting more and more complex and involve third-party building or industrial equipment, the fixed set of standard features is no longer sufficient. This is where ComPLC comes in. ComPLCs covers virtually any control scenario. Learn more

Interfaces to third-party systems

In security and communication systems, it is essential that different systems work together. Constantly exchanging data, video and audio streams and triggering actions on both sides provide perfectly integrated solutions for operators and users.  Learn more

ComPLC – Smart boost for logic control

With the ComPLC software package we offer a powerful solution that makes it easy, efficient and flexible to control the behaviour of equipment within a Commend Intercom environment. The software can be used in combination with the Intercom Server’s built-in standard set of I/O control functions and adds the ability to communicate directly with third-party systems via standard protocols such as ModbusTCP (for industrial equipment), KNX (for building equipment) and Commend’s own ICX (for Intercom equipment). This way, it is possible to custom configure a wide range of behaviours across all connected systems.

Drag-and-drop ease

ComPLC comes with its own configuration GUI, which is extremely easy and intuitive to use. All elements can be placed and arranged by simple dragging and dropping, which makes programming even complex logic signal controls a breeze, even for operators with only a basic technical understanding. Although very easy to use and learn, ComPLC offers an extremely flexible set of control elements. This gives operators the freedom to cover virtually any control scenario and fine-tune their control sequences to their every need – all without the need for special software. Once the configuration of the logic control sequence is finished, it can be uploaded and run on a VirtuoSIS software-based Intercom Server, or on a Commend G8-VOIPSERV card within a hardware-based Intercom Server.

Examples

Here are some interesting examples that leverage the power of the ICX protocol:

Automatic sending of e-mails

in case of specific Intercom system events (e. g., if a device or connection fails)

Time-controlled event sequences

involving any combination of devices (e. g., door opens in the morning and closes in the evening; a building alarm is armed automatically one minute after locking the main entrance door).

Automatic time-scheduled volume adjustment

for Intercom stations and loudspeakers (e. g., high volume during the day, low volume overnight).

Monitoring of third-party equipment via SNMP

(e. g., automatically texting IT staff or showing a message at the Control Desk in case of a router failure)

Configuring mantrap arrangements

as used in banks or high-security areas (whenever one door opens, the other one closes automatically.

And many more possibilities

Built-in troubleshooting support

A special feature highlight introduced with ComPLC is called “Online Mode”: clicking a button on the user interface will list all traced operations of the custom configured logic controls in real-time. Especially when it comes to tracking design errors in logic control sequences, operators will find this an extremely useful feature that will save them a lot of time and effort.
